These were two important locii of anyone's geographical knowledge before the advent of Wikimapia and Google Maps on the net. Globe--Thanks to the Recreation Centre in Shaktinagar, we got a globe at home. I was in class 2 and the impression of that object still remains for long in my cerebral hemisphere.I saw the place where I was born(Nagpur) and the nearest place to our then current location (Varanasi).They seemed to be so close to each other on the globe.Travelling time via train is 24hrs between the 2 places. In that case, travelling the world would have taken an eternity.(That was what the globe made me think). Things might have been like this a century back ,but thanks to the genius who have made the world a small place to live in, we no longer think in those terms.
