The Holidays

Last week was one of the busiest week for me as I was travelling to and fro ,across UP,Bihar and Jharkhand.Within hours of exam completion,me and Tiwariji were having a chat at ComeSum.It was more on the CRM paper that we had globed to the best of our abilities. But the mood changed suddenly ,once we boarded the gaadi with my KNIT friends. The humour content exceeded all levels as we reached Kanpur with Beckham being the toast of all. Landed at Anshu's Baarat with the real manager Rajeev rai taking turns to ensure that things were in place. His photos can be found in most of the pics taken by the photographer after the couple pics. Left Kanpur by 3 AM train to land in Patna at 8 PM.Missed the Book fair of the day due to train delays.Once you enter Bihar, you are at mercy of the fellow travellers than the driver, for reaching your destination. Started the next day early at 10 AM and met Sridhar at the Book Fair.We travelled the maximum part of Patna around Gandhi Maidan. Also went to the...

A weekend in Ahmedabad

What a weekend it was, in my latest trip outside campus ,straight to Ahmedabad. Its been ages that I have gone out, perhaps a month other than going to the capital of Gujarat. Well ,so here are some important things that happened in the journey :- Saw some Indian cricketers from a distance of 10 metres in the aeroplane. They were going to Delhi after winning the Kanpur test.Didn't went to them for any photo clicks or autograph. My friend did all that.Seems I am no more a fanatic, I was 10 years back.I lost the interest after India's loss to England in Super Six in 1999.There is very little emotion that I have with cricket ,now that I watch it. Received on Airport like C*O's and taken to WIMWI in car.Now that was experience. But the infra took me for a shock.L has better hostel and college infra ,now that I reflect over it. Presented something in Global Challenge.Had tweeted sometime back for a need of contest like this and this was the ocassion. But we lost due to lack of enough ...

EarthComm

Got through this idea today evening thinking about the committees out here in (Hel)L. To start with ,when I was a kid,we used to have some houses in school which would fight out to get the coveted sports trophy.Sometimes,I would think that the ends were really not a deserved one and not shared with the real responsible people. Came Engg. college and there were some 4-5 committees there.Since there was lot of politics, infights and some events that they used to do,it was better to be away from them. Some of the branch forums were too ridiculous at the outset esp. Foronix (Forum for Elex. Engg.). Then I joined Infy.I expected the politics to stop there ,but then I came to know the concept of India of Kannadigas and Tamils,North and South and what not.It was not part of work culture ,but a bond that people shared and had great difficulty in moving out off or looking for people outside it.The same was more or less proved here in L.Some of them are completely dominated by a particular state t...

The Journey to Home and Back

Its always nostalgic going home and then coming back. Most of the time is spent in sleeping ,at least for me. But then the fight for the Jeeps and other means of transport at Faizabad reminds me of the great days in Sultanpur. During my entire college stay in Sultanpur, I did not spend more than 2 months, in the college, at stretch. Reason:- I was home most of the time, sick of mess food ,the bus going to Faizabad right in front of the college and it was damn cheap(50-60 bucks to home ,when the 10km rates from BTM to MG road in bangalore are the same via auto). And yes I have taken those Bangalore autowallahs many a time ,just for the sake of going to MG road for no reason and Forum (being the Bangalore temple where one meets all the devis and devtas of Bangalore). Anyways, the fight to home last weekend was one of these. Waited for 2-3 hrs at the bus stand and then took the bus to Faizabad. But this time there was no waiting in Faizabad. The old rickety Mahindra green jeeps have now be...

The Summer of 09

I had one of the wonderful summers this year juggling around Noida and Delhi. It was great fun to be with college friends ,stay in AC room and still find time to enjoy the Indian summer.I can divide my daily life in two parts in that stay. The IIML Noida Campus What a place to enjoy your summer.Luxury at its best with AC running at full throttle. To top it all, hum 5 or 7 or whatever we were ,had a gala time spending our days around the famous Labour chowk, Barah baais,Nithari village,Shipra mall,GIP and Atta market. It was truly fruitful in catching up with old friends from school, college ,colony and what not. Each one of the hum 5/7 had a unique personality and summer company to name. These are not the ones that are conventional B-school types and its better they are not. NOIDA was really a puzzle for me to solve initially with any sector starting from anywhere and ending somewhere. However,I soon understood the tricks of the game and the place it is.The authorities have developed the vi...

Sleepy days in L

The graph of sleeping has increased arithmetically from 6 hrs average in 1st term to 8 in 2nd and 10 in 3rd term.Good that we do not have 8 terms like the good old engineering days.Else I would have turned into a Kumbhakaran. These great times for me can be always be remembered for :- dil dhoondhataa hai, fir wahee furasat ke raat din baithhe rahe tasawwoor-ye-jaanaa kiye huye jaadon kee narma dhoop aaur aangan mein let kar aankhon pe khinch kar tere daaman ke saaye ko aaundhe pade rahe kabhee karawat liye huye yaa gamreeyon kee raat jo poorawaaeeyaan chale thhandee safed chaadaro pe jaage der tak taaron ko dekhate rahe chhat par pade huye barfilee sardiyon mein kisee bhee pahaad par waadee mein gunjatee huyee, khaamoshiyaan soone aankhon mein bheege bheege se lamhe liye huye I always thought during my infy days that this was long and gone. But hey ..its here to stay for a while :)

Blog Reclaimed

Its with immense satisfaction that I am posting on my first blog after 3 years. I had lost track of this one during my working days and then could not reclaim it due to Blogger - Google issues and there was no one to help with my login. Finally , aaj fir try kiya and here's the post :) There was one more historical thing that happened today.I got hold of a book that had made me Rushdie buff "The Anthology of Selected Indian Writing". After KNIT , I had been trying searching for the book in Bangalore with no success. Finally got it in the IIML library here. Historical day it is , as Darwin's 200th birthday is being celebrated today. Survival of fittest is as true in biology as in business today. Enough of history for now.
