The last six months have been great in terms of places I have visited across the country.From the highs of Himalayas and being next to China border to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari. It has been one of those years when I have travelled the most. May - It started with the trip to Nagpur and back via Varanasi.Next in line was the 4 dham yatra which encompassed the following places : Dehradun - Forest dept. guest house and institute.The starting and terminating point of the trip. Mussoorie - On the route to Yamnotri and the Campti fall revisit after 18years  Yamnotri - The treacherous climb and tiresome 5 km trek and finally the temple Gangotri- Following the next river in line after Yamuna and reaching Bhagirathi.Another treacherous route to reach the place Kedarnath - First time on helicopter and being in a place just next to snow clad mountains.Slept with 3 sweaters on and 3 more blankets and still felt the cold Badrinath- Revisited after 5 years .Found it to...

This is perhaps the longest holiday that I am enjoying in the past 10 years of academic and professional life and perhaps one of the last until,I retire,not work for more than 3 months etc.So what am I doing in these holidays. Well nothing too great to enjoy.I am just trying to reinvent a bit of myself and enjoy the most of it. Things I have done :- Written few research papers Done something to revive KNIT Alumni association,although it has a long way to go Learning Car driving Watched a bit of IPL Sleeping approx. 10-12 hours in a day Going to Sultanpur and Lucknow Walking,Morning jog and sitting by the Saruyu river Net surfing Chatting with lost contacts Things I plan to do in the remaining holiday period:- Nagpur visit The 4 dham yatra Watch T20 World Cup Attend marriage of Alok and Rajeev rai Complete car driving lessons :) Chalk something in TO DO list for future (Right now it varies from research,consulting,entrepreneurship to learning to swim)

The year was 1996.English class. We had some assignment on Tenses in the class.  It was supposed to describe a hypothetical situation: "The Year is 2050.You come back to your school. How will you like to be introduced there?" I had written the most conventional of all answers with a career path in mind. The career path that could be one of the most hyped ones in the country today. It was something like : IIT-IIM-IAS-MP-PM Phew! All the great fame of Indian life falling on one person. So burdened that person will be with so much of hype surrounding him. A fellow student is on the track of doing it right now. I believe some have already done that and will be 1-2 steps to becoming the PM Anyways, Time moves on. The year is 2004.An interviewer asks me: What do you want to be in 5 years time?I answer become a manager. Lead a team and so on. The year is 2006 and I had got what I had set out for 2 years back. Some of my school mates remembered the school days fondly esp. the 2nd March,2000 when our Class XIIth Board exams had started.I don't remember of what all motions and feelings I had been through in that phase of my life.But I know one thing for certain.Those were some of the craziest days of my life. I felt that conquering the world meant cracking the JEE exam and I had failed miserably in that.So,as I had not done the conquest,it seemed to be a futile exercise to enjoy the time at hand .It was better to prepare for life that was going to come by working hard,studying hard and forgetting the rest. I feel that all this was because of wrong notions that I had about success by going through those lengthy tomes of JEE books that do no good.We are yet to graduate from the IIT/IIM mindset that is taken to be a parameter of success in India. 2000 - Gave the IIT Prelims - Failed.Gave 12th Board Exams.Scored decent marks. Gave lots of engineering entrance competitions.Not so successful.Varanasi stay for preparing with a new zeal 2001 - Joined KNIT Sultanpur.WTC attack and college made it the turning point for the year 2002-2003- Regular routine of classes ,friends and home coming 2004- Made it through Infy.Heard of something called as CAT and prepared with new vigour.Not successful 2005- Passed B.Tech.Joined Infy and passed their training requirements 2006-Routine work in IT sector 2007- Made inroads by cracking the CAT 2008- Left Infy.Joined IIM Lucknow 2009-Classes ,friends,summers,competitions @IIML.Watched the after effects of global economic meltdown from close quarters.
