The Summer of 09

I had one of the wonderful summers this year juggling around Noida and Delhi. It was great fun to be with college friends ,stay in AC room and still find time to enjoy the Indian summer.I can divide my daily life in two parts in that stay.
The IIML Noida Campus
What a place to enjoy your summer.Luxury at its best with AC running at full throttle. To top it all, hum 5 or 7 or whatever we were ,had a gala time spending our days around the famous Labour chowk, Barah baais,Nithari village,Shipra mall,GIP and Atta market. It was truly fruitful in catching up with old friends from school, college ,colony and what not.
Each one of the hum 5/7 had a unique personality and summer company to name. These are not the ones that are conventional B-school types and its better they are not.
NOIDA was really a puzzle for me to solve initially with any sector starting from anywhere and ending somewhere. However,I soon understood the tricks of the game and the place it is.The authorities have developed the villages to make them hip kinda place. But the names get stranger once you travel by bus/auto.So Sector 62 is Mamoora,37 is Kasna and 20 is Nithari .May be some other famous sectors with local names might exist ,but thankfully I know only these 3.
We used to catch our favorite bus for Nehru Place at barah baais 12-22, the crossing of these two sectors and the major bus stand out there. The journey with Ankit were really eye opener for me and him.For me it was his stories of Amrika and for him it was the Indian summer and public he was enjoying. We seldom came at the right time to catch our favorite bus at 9:07 AM.We were either early or late by some minutes owing to starting late /the great jams we were caught in.
Finally on arriving to Kalkaji, Iwould leave the bus and catch the auto for my office.

The Office Days
After working in IT for nearly 3 years ,all I wanted was not a typical office with ppl busy around laptops and computers. But alas, that was not to be.Initially, I was assigned some work to do some New Product Development kind of stuff. It was interesting and all the more fascinating to see something shaping up on a concept note.It was not meant to be completed in the stipulated 2 months time and only a framework was needed from me.I think I did most of this in the first 2 weeks of my internship and was all the more raring to start off with the implementation, when a news jolt hit the company and the project went to cold basket.I have done some market research over it and believe that it is a sustainable concept.
There was a dull phase of 2-3 weeks after this and I had nothing to do except twitter, news, gtalk and read about political scenario.
After that I was assigned something for rest of my summer period. It was to do some door-to-door sales with clients who had agreed to get a visit from a person as great as me :)Anyways,it was a very humbling experience and with 8 campaigns around East Delhi and Noida, I know that area as well as the MP from that area. Its really amazing to realize that one day you are going to some one who is just sustaining his livelihood and the next day to a posh flat where your entry requires 4 gates :)

They have one thing in common - Its the dream to do be someone ,to bring a change with whatever capabilities they have.I was just trying a new dimension to that dream but anyways fared OK as per my limitations. So it was selling dreams for the rest of the summer in one way or the other.
And yes , in Delhi,I did enjoyed the Metro,Chandni Chowk,Parathe waali gali,Haldiram,McD,Red Fort,Palika Bazaar,Rajiv Chowk,CP,Qutab Minar,Select Mall, etc. But to top the list is Nehru Place. One can get anything from Hardware, software, computers, clothes, food to even Jobs out there.
One of the positives that I gained out of the experience is to start anything from scratch, you need to start from Zero. The business model has to be self sustaining else its gonna fail.
Enough of gyaan for now :)
