Got through this idea today evening thinking about the committees out here in (Hel)L.
To start with ,when I was a kid,we used to have some houses in school which would fight out to get the coveted sports trophy.Sometimes,I would think that the ends were really not a deserved one and not shared with the real responsible people.
Came Engg. college and there were some 4-5 committees there.Since there was lot of politics,infights and some events that they used to do,it was better to be away from them.Some of the branch forums were too ridiculous at the outset esp. Foronix (Forum for Elex. Engg.).
Then I joined Infy.I expected the politics to stop there ,but then I came to know the concept of India of Kannadigas and Tamils,North and South and what not.It was not part of work culture ,but a bond that people shared and had great difficulty in moving out off or looking for people outside it.The same was more or less proved here in L.Some of them are completely dominated by a particular state that others have no chance or say to what is happening there.Thinking of Indian Politics ,its the state of Tamil nadu and some others that the politicians can not afford to ignore.
And then the people going onsite in s/w company and Student Exchange here make you feel that you are part of India.Infact quite a number of college committees in one of my friends college in Canada are dominated by Indians.That India Comm feeling comes once,we go outside India :)
Perhaps once we start going outside Earth and share the space with aliens, will we realize the concept of EarthComm.
Till then enjoy the politics,rivalry and comradeship the normal committees and divisions at Earth.
