10+ years of blogging
After noticing Sridhar's post on 10+ years of blogging, I thought of checking my blog's age and voila it's been 10+ years.
The blog started when I had completed 2 weeks in Bangalore and started staying in BTM with Puneet, Abhishek and Shwetank. Those were real fun days. We later had Kapoor and Ashish joining the action.Bangalore was an energetic place because one never got tired after a hard days work at office. The 2 year adventure that I had away from home was still with friends I knew since college days. I could know them better when I started staying with them.It was easy for me to stay in Bangalore compared to staying in Ahmedabad, Bombay or Chennai because of our group which was more intact. We had a reunion of sorts in 2010 and 2014.But the magic of 2006-08 cannot be relieved again.
When it came to office work, we were still getting trained and I think I actually had my first blast with work in March 2006, the first night out at work.Till then it was fun period and I never knew that work could take so much of energy. The client I worked with had provided enormous bandwidth for internet and not knowing what to do then, we used to try different things like Orkut ( social media) and You tube (videos and music). But I had some inclination for writing and this translated to blogging.Within 6 months I grew up and achieved what I had aspired during my Infosys interview.Work took priority over everything.
I had another priority then which was to do MBA.Dream had already been shattered twice with the CAT results.Blogging came handy to express my thoughts and I started few other blogs on CAT prep, philosophy and one initiative with my cousin Kartikeya. The prep finally culminated in admit to IIM Lucknow. I had the aspiration to live the L life post reading blogs on hell and another by Jaya jha, Pothi.com founder. The IIPM drama on IBM (Gaurav story) was another trigger point for making Hell bloggers famous.
After surviving the first 6 months in hell and going through the crazy phases of summer internship, I landed up in Noida. There me and Sridhar joined the Twitter bandwagon.Twitter seemed fun to start with and we had the Indian general elections happening first time.So many one liner folks became expert there.Back to second year of MBA which was more achievement led for me compared to the first one, we had some feature in our Hell Intranet called Owlery. Your blogs could be read there as well and it was fun to read others blog as well. Dheepjoy mails and one liners were toast of the town then.
Having so much fun and finally integrating my blogs through reclaiming and all in 2009, 2010 was a turning point in my life.I joined TCS with high hopes of using what I learnt at Hell to utter dismay. The first six months there were really pathetic with Chennai bearing all the brunts of my agony. I learnt a lot in Jan 2011.Then I got into fun at Kolkata for few months. Intital few days with Vamsi and Sinchain were real fun and to top it all was India's world cup win.Work and politics made my life crazy between May 2011 to August 2011. Then I had more chill time and could actually utilize what I had learnt in Kolkata. The next learning phase was between Feb 2012 to August 2012. RFPs and one major transition at work took most of my energy.
There was no dull moment at work but monotony started getting creeping in life.To break that I started posting on Good things happening to me and have tried to post it once in a while.
2013 and 2014 were real bad years for me personally and professionally as I do not think I achieved much based on my aspirations then. I was at my worst low and still trying to be happy about it.
It all changed after my 2015 birthday visit to Nagpur when I started getting couple of calls from recruiters.I finally joined a small firm in Ahmedabad and was out of it in six months. It was fun to start and end with.Found the love of my life in this period and got married. Went to Maldives which was worth spending time.
I believe that the multiples of 5 are some inflections point in my life. In 2005, I completed Engineering, in 2010, I completed MBA and in 2015, my marriage.
My blogging graph increases during the happy days compared to sad days and is a reflection of state of my mind.I hope to continue this activity in times to continue and leave some digital content about my life in years to come.
